NAPE President Mid Year Reflections

Dr. James Edet, FNAPE; NAPE President

PRESIDENT NOTE

THINKING BACK, LOOKING AHEAD: MID YEAR REFLECTION

It’s the halfway into the year and a great time to pause, reflect and do an assessment of events and happenings in our community. Make a conscious effort to celebrate your wins, identify opportunities for improvement while you set bigger goals for the remaining months of the year.

For look back and first half achievement, I invite you to read my speech in the recently published NAPE NEWS edition.

Looking ahead, as the largest national professional association of explorationists and related upstream industry disciplines in Nigeria and Africa, better times are ahead. The Divestment workshop planned for July 21st is one of these.

In the last 15 years, there has been multiple divestments of oil and gas assets in Nigeria’s onshore and shallow offshore area. And the scale of these divestments is larger and are more frequent. Several conversations and engagements have focused on ‘why divestment?’. However, there is a need to discuss the possible benefits of divestment to all stakeholders.

As NAPE, we will be leading this critical conversation via a workshop to examine the overall Nigerian oil & gas divestment activities, enable the identification of opportunities not limited to operatorship, but including servicing companies, upstream, midstream, and downstream infrastructure owners.

This workshop will gather critical stakeholders, decision makers and eminent speakers of the Nigerian oil & gas industry to discuss opportunities, barriers, and solutions to challenges to harness the opportunities in the Nigerian oil & gas divestments., and I am specially extending an invitation to you. There are many other events to look forward to and I ask for your unwavering cooperation, participation, and selflessness towards these.

Let’s join hands and be more intentional about ensuring NAPE evolves positively and as a pace-setter organization that we are.

To draw this curtain, don’t forget to draw out lessons from the past six months and use them as your experience chest for the future. I wish you great success and more productivity.
