President Letter to Members: August

Patricia Ochogbu, FNAPE

Dear Esteemed NAPE Member,

I welcome you to August where we begin to intensify our planning for the upcoming conference and the flurry of enriching activities that your Executives and I continue to deliver to you.

These past months have been nothing short of heroic. Your heroism in the face of our changing industry, global landscape and the support you continue to offer our association and your industry associates is commendable.

I am excited to recall some of the events in July and how NAPE continues to remain even more valuable in keeping up with the times. You would agree that year 2020 and 2021 are together a “century” and still counting, so it is no surprise that I only recently had my first media parley with members of the press.

At this parley, six media houses were present and I shared with them the following: Our continuing education programs which as you know are aimed at providing our members with strategic up-skill and re-skill strategies as we embrace the emerging energy transition, our upcoming 39th Annual International Conference & Exhibition, highlights of our communique arising from our February 2021 PIB workshop, as well as our strategic collaboration with other organizations. I also spoke on my stewardship as NAPE President and my experience as the second female president of our highly esteemed association.

I emphasized to them that our motto: Our ideas find Oil and Gas, is more than a slogan. It represents the vision of our founding fathers, our driving force as members as well as the fundamentals of our profession. Energy is an intrinsic part of life. Fossil fuel remains a more intrinsic part of energy. I was happy to share the great strides our member organizations make as they continue to implement safe and sustainable practices in their operations.

I would like to say thank you for your continued support. Reports of the Media parley are been published by the media houses. Feel free to read these reports in the media and on our social platform pages.

In times past, August was synonymous with vacations and Summer School activities. This August, technical meetings continue, as your distinguished elected executives continue to work selflessly, investing time and resources in planning fit-for-today, fit-for-future programs.

Programs to look forward to this month include our Special Technical series from HQ, Chapters and Young Professional, Resources Economics Short Course, a Night of Tributes in honor of the erudite late Prof. S.W. Petters FNAPE, notification for abstracts acceptance amongst many others. I invite you to be a part of these value-focused activities.

NAPE remains committed to the advancement of the study and practice of Geosciences, energy exploration and development through strategic policy advocacy, knowledge sharing, industry collaboration and networking activities. We recognize that some of our members are going through career transitions, and some of our member organizations are going through re-structuring programs, hence I would like to appeal that you continue to show more kindness, respect for people and your organizational processes.
I would like to implore that you continue to keep your mental well-being a matter of highest priority.

Thank you for your continued contribution and support to the growth of NAPE, stay positive and I look forward to seeing you at our events this month.

Yours’

Patricia Ochogbu, FNAPE.
