Inaugural Address by the NAPE President Mr. Johnbosco Uche FNAPE – 47th NAPE President

It is with great excitement and profound sense of responsibility that I write my first message to you as the President of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).

First, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all NAPE members, speakers, delegates, and exhibitors who contributed to the resounding success of the 42nd NAPE Annual International Conference and Exhibition. The dedication and hard work of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC), coupled with the innovations introduced, created an enriching and memorable conference experience for all. The overwhelming positive feedback we have received from across the industry and academia continues to affirm the impact of the 2024 conference. This achievement was only possible through your unwavering support and trust in us. Once again, thank you for standing by me and the entire CPC throughout the planning and execution of various programs.

As a professional body with a wealth of industry expertise, NAPE plays a pivotal role in shaping the conversation around the Energy Transition. In line with this, my first official public outing as President was at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Warri, where I delivered the keynote address at the College of Science’s maiden conference themed “Energy Science: Current Practices; Transition Dynamics, and Challenges Ahead”. My visit also underscored the importance of collaboration between the industry and academia, particularly in leveraging research and development to address today’s energy challenges.

Looking ahead, the newly inaugurated 2024-2025 executive committee is committed to initiatives that will benefit our members while adding value to the industry and academia. We will deepen our advocacy with the Legislative and Executive arms of government to promote policies that positively impact the industry. We aim to create more opportunities for capacity building and learning, ensuring our members derive tangible value from the association. In January 2025, the executive committee will hold a retreat to review our ambitious plans and we will keep you informed as we execute them.

Under my leadership, NAPE will remain open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement. This is our opportunity to define the future we envision for our industry—because the Future is Now. Together, we will reposition NAPE to greater heights, and shape a thriving, and sustainable energy sector for generations to come.

Sincerely,

Johnbosco Uche, FNAPE
President, Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE)
