April Message and Reflections from the NAPE President

Dear NAPE Members, Associates, and Friends,

The first quarter of 2025 has been eventful, and I am excited to share my March reflections as we continue to advance NAPE’s vision, strengthen collaborations, and deliver on our mandate to you.

Strengthening Collaborations & Technical Engagements
To reinforce our collaboration with the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), we hosted a joint NAPE-AAPG webinar in March, featuring a presentation on Artificial Intelligence in Seismic Interpretation by the AAPG President. This event demonstrated our commitment to fostering industry knowledge-sharing and partnerships. Under my leadership, we would continue to drive solid collaboration with our sister associations locally and across the globe.

We successfully delivered our monthly Technical & Business Meetings across multiple locations and chapters, including Lagos, Port Harcourt, Awka/Owerri, Abuja, Warri, and UK/Europe. If you missed them, you can catch up on the NAPE YouTube channel for the recordings: NAPE NIGERIA – YouTube

Celebrations
March saw us celebrating the International Women’s Day. At NAPE, we stand firmly behind the United Nations’ 2025 theme: “For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment”, and we will relentlessly champion these values in all that we do.

Congratulations to the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) for winning the 2025 AAPG Imperial Barrel Award(IBA) Africa and Europe region competition. To prepare Nigerian universities for the AAPG IBA and NAPE BEC competitions, we provided Petrel Geoscience Interpretation training in February. I am especially proud that NAPE’s platform has propelled our members to the global success. I wish them the best at the global finals.

We also celebrate Eid al-Fitr with our Muslim members and their families. We cherish the moments of our togetherness in NAPE. Eid Mubarak!

Leadership Inaugurations, NAPE@50, and Elections
During March, I had the honor of inaugurating the newly elected leadership of NAPE Young Professionals (YP), led by Seun Ogundipe, and Awka-Owerri Chapter Executives, led by Dr. Ifeanyi Chinwuko.

I am pleased to announce that NAPE will celebrate its 50th anniversary in August 2025. To deliver this Golden Landmark event, the NAPE@50 Planning Committee has been constituted, led by Mr. Babajide Fasina as Chairman and Dr. David Anomneze as Secretary. As we look back in the last 50 years, this milestone event will equally set the framework for the next 50 years.

Additionally, the NAPE Electoral Committee has been appointed, with Mr. Zanna Muktar, FNAPE as Chairman. 2025 Elections will be conducted for the following three Executive Committee positions: Vice President, President-Elect, and University Assistance Program Chair. I encourage qualified members to contest for the election and serve our great association. For further details, visit the website: Announcing NAPE Executive Committee Election
