A NAPE NMGS Collaboration to honour the life of Prof. S.W. Petters FNAPE, FNMGS, FAS
Professor Petters was, among many other numerous achievements, a recipient of the following prizes:
Aret Adams Award, the highest prize presented by the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).
Fellow of Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).
Fellow of Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS)
Fellow, Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS)
Fellow, Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS)
Shell / Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society Award with a citation that reads: “for persistent excellent contributions to mining and geosciences in Africa”.
Texaco / Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists Third Best Paper Award for 1998.
He has served on many public boards including former President Obasanjo’s Presidential Policy Advisory Committee – 1999.
Pioneer substantive Vice-Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University
Listings in: The International Who’s Who in Education, 3rd Edition; the International Directory of Distinguished Leadership; the International Who’s Who of Intellectuals, 7th Edition; the International Register of Profiles, 10th Edition; Financial Times Who’s Who in the World Oil and Gas Industry, 10th Edition; and the Who’s Who in the Nigerian Petroleum Industry.
Author and Editor of ten books, including the textbook on the “Regional geology of Africa,”, and over 150 articles.
He has supervised ten Ph.Ds and twenty-five master’s degrees involving Nigerians and Cameroonians.
