June 2025 Message and Reflections from the NAPE President

I bring you warm greetings as we step into the new month.

At NAPE, we continue to make a meaningful impact in the energy industry – sharing knowledge, expanding our reach, and fostering professional growth through our wide range of programs.

Driving Knowledge Through Mentoring and Technical Exchange
In May, we successfully kicked off the second cohort of our Mentoring Circles initiative. We met with our dedicated mentors and secured their commitment for the next six months. This program is designed to facilitate the transfer of knowledge from seasoned professionals to emerging leaders in geoscience as a key strategy for sustaining leadership excellence in our industry.

We also delivered our monthly Technical & Business Meetings across various locations and chapters, including Lagos, Abuja, Awka/Owerri, Warri, and North America. If you missed any of these insightful sessions, I encourage you to visit our official YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0iYxL2S5yx0WzN0zgrbR4w/streams

Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration
I am pleased to announce the inauguration of a new NAPE Student Chapter at Osun State University (UNIOSUN). The expansion of our student chapters continues to provide vital bridges between industry and academia, nurturing the next generation of energy professionals.

Additionally, we hosted the maiden edition of our Learning Series for Nigerian University Lecturers through our University Assistance Program (UAP), focusing on the topic: “From Concept to Value – A Paradigm Shift: Practical Examples of Geoscientists’ Roles in Hydrocarbon Maturation.” This initiative supports our vision of aligning academic training with industry realities.

Expanding NAPE’s Global Presence
This June, NAPE will participate in the 86th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) in France. I am honoured to be speaking in two sessions during the conference, representing our association’s voice on the global stage. In addition, NAPE will be exhibiting at the event, and we warmly invite all attendees to visit our stand. I will also be joined by our UK/Europe Chapter Coordinator, further strengthening our international representation. Our active participation in platforms like EAGE reinforces NAPE’s commitment to global engagement, advocating for Nigeria’s energy potential and showcasing investment opportunities within our industry to the international community.

Upcoming Conference
To register or submit an abstract for the upcoming mini conference at Kwara State University in August and the main NAPE annual international conference and exhibition in November, visit the NAPE website: www.nape.org.ng

NAPE remains committed to making a lasting impact across both the energy industry and the academic space. Together, we will continue to generate ideas that find oil and gas in sustainable ways while meeting the world’s energy needs of today and tomorrow.

Let us remain inspired, involved, and intentional in everything we do.

Warm regards,

Johnbosco Uche, FNAPE
NAPE President
