Highlights from the NAPE 2024 Opening Ceremony.

The event kicked off with an inspiring welcome address by the Chairman of the 2024 Conference Planning Committee, Mr. Johnbosco Uche, setting the stage for insightful contributions from a diverse array of stakeholders.

Key discussions included:
- Assessments on critical topics like gas flaring, biomass, and the transformative potential of gas in driving economic growth.

- The call for an energy mix by NMGS President, stressing its role in achieving energy security and affordability.

- Pre-Conference Workshop Communique: The President of NAPE officially handed over a communique from the to the government, represented by Mrs. Abosede Olubunmi, containing valuable recommendations for Nigeria’s energy future.

Highlights from industry leaders:
- GCO NNPC (Mele Kolo Kyari) emphasized domestic energy solutions, CNG for small industries, building mini LNG plants, and reducing gas flaring.

- NUPRC (represented by Mr. Amadasun) reaffirmed the commitment to boosting oil production, enhancing metering infrastructure, combating crude oil theft, and advancing the Energy Sustainability Framework and ESG initiatives.

- NCDMB proudly announced a rise in Nigeria's local content retention from 26% to 54%, with significant job creation and streamlined approval processes to enhance local business involvement.

Additional highlights included a Book/Memo launch on the Geology of the Niger Delta, by the President, and the recognition of NAPE Awardees, and the conferment of the Aret Adams award on the distinguished Dr. Kehinde Ladipo and Dr. Nosa Omorodion.
