Welcome Message from the NAPE President, Mr. Johnbosco Uche, FNAPE.

It is with great excitement and profound sense of responsibility that I write my first message to you as the President of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).

First, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all NAPE members, speakers, delegates, and exhibitors who contributed to the resounding success of the 42nd NAPE Annual International Conference and Exhibition.
The dedication and hard work of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC), coupled with the innovations introduced, created an enriching and memorable conference experience for all.

The overwhelming positive feedback we have received from across the industry and academia continues to affirm the impact of the 2024 conference. This achievement was only possible through your unwavering support and trust in us. Once again, thank you for standing by me and the entire CPC throughout the planning and execution of various programs.

As a professional body with a wealth of industry expertise, NAPE plays a pivotal role in shaping the conversation around the Energy Transition. In line with this, my first official public outing as President was at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Warri, where I delivered the keynote address at the College of Science’s maiden conference themed “Energy Science: Current Practices; Transition Dynamics, and Challenges Ahead”. My visit also underscored the importance of collaboration between the industry and academia, particularly in leveraging research and development to address today’s energy challenges.

Looking ahead, the newly inaugurated 2024-2025 executive committee is committed to initiatives that will benefit our members while adding value to the industry and academia. We will deepen our advocacy with the Legislative and Executive arms of government to promote policies that positively impact the industry.

Federal University of Petroleum Resources - Collège of Science Median Conference & Workshop - FUPRE 2024 Conference

As part of our continuous drive to support and collaborate with the academia, NAPE participated at the maiden College of Science, FUPRE conference.

The keynote address was delivered by the president of NAPE Mr. Johnbosco Uche FNAPE, based on the theme of the conference ‘Energy Science: Current Practices; Transition, Dynamics and Challenges Ahead’.

In delivering his speech, the president provided insights into the rising global energy demand, the evolution over the past century that ranged from use of coal to wind, the interdisciplinary nature of energy science, covering current practices that integrate traditional and renewable energy sources.

On energy transition, he emphasized:
- Decarbonization
- Decentralization
- Digitalization
- Energy Efficiency

While noting challenges such as economic, technological, and environmental factors, he called for Academia-Industry collaboration in R&D and talent development to drive innovative solutions.

The President later led his team on a courtesy visit to Dr. Akan Victor Sebastine, FNAPE, MD/CEO of Axxon Energy, to strengthen partnerships for advancing Energy Security in Nigeria.

He presented the Inaugural NAPE Memoir and NAPE Lapel, reaffirming NAPE’s commitment to progress in the energy sector.
