BEN OSUNO AWARD

NOMINATION GUIDELINES & FORM FOR THE NAPE BEN OSUNO AWARD

The Ben Osuno Pioneer’s Award is named in honour of Ogbueshi Ben Osuno in recognition of his pioneering contributions to the Nigerian oil and gas industry. The Award recognizes and celebrates excellence and outstanding contributions by an individual member or a team, or a corporate member, for pioneering activities in the field of the earth sciences in general, and the Nigerian Oil and Gas/energy industry.

The award honours members who by their individual or collective actions, have demonstrated exceptional creativity, innovation and leadership, in proposing, pioneering and/or transforming approaches to major challenges in the oil and gas industry or the academia, or in the field of research, or application of research, or education, or technology, or publications, or products and services, or administration, or operations, or government policy and advocacy. This award is NAPE’s second most distinguished award, second to the Aret Adams Award.

The frequency of this award shall be as deemed fit by the Executive Committee of NAPE. It will be awarded to one recipient or team, provided that at least one qualified nominee is a NAPE member. It is not necessarily an annual award. Not more than one award shall be given in any year.

ELIGIBILITY AND NOMINATION PROCEDURES SHALL BE AS FOLLOWS:

An Active Member duly sponsored by no fewer than five (5) NAPE Fellows, at least one (1) of which must be Past President of NAPE or Aret Adams Awardee who have paid their dues up to date in the current financial year.


In addition, the nominee(s) must:

  1. Be committed to promoting NAPE ideals and best industry practices.

  2. Show adequate evidence and documentation of pioneering activities.

  3. Show active involvement and leadership in professional activities.

  4. Be financially up to date member of NAPE. Consistent payment of annual dues for a sustained minimum period of 10 years from the year of application shall be required.

RESTRICTIONS:

  • Nominees must not have been disciplined under Section 7 or Section 12 of the NAPE Constitution.

  • Nominees must be alive at the time of selection and must be personally present to receive the award. NAPE Honours and Awards shall not be given by proxy except for posthumous awards.

  • Serving Executive officers of the Association are ineligible for consideration while in office.

  • Advisory Council members are not eligible for consideration for NAPE Distinguished Honours and Nominated Awards while serving on the Council.

SUBMITTING NOMINATION FORMS FOR BEN OSUNO AWARD:

  • All applications for BEN OSUNO award are to be made on standard templates provided by the HAC and shall be completed online in accordance with the instructions contained therein.

  • Attach supporting documentation such as the nominee’s curriculum vitae, in line with the criteria for the award concerned.

  • Individuals may submit a nomination form on behalf of themselves or on behalf of others. Anyone previously nominated may re-enter.

  • Applicants are to advise their sponsors to respond to the email seeking their reference within the time frame specified in the request.

  • Applications or endorsement received after May 31st, 2025 shall be deemed invalid.

  • Upon receipt, applications become the property of NAPE and will not be returned to applicants.
