August 2025 Message and Reflections from the NAPE President

Dear NAPE Members, Associates, and Friends,

It is with profound humility and immense pride that I welcome you to the month of August when we will have a historic celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE). To be serving as President at this pivotal moment is not only a privilege but a deep personal honour.

NAPE@50: Pioneering the Future of Energy in Africa

On the 14th of August, we will celebrate 50 years of NAPE’s legacy of excellence, spotlighting the impact of Nigerian professionals in the energy sector, and setting a bold vision for its future.

The celebration will feature keynote addresses from the leadership of NNPCL and NUPRC, panel discussion with CEO’s of leading energy companies in Nigeria and a showcase of NAPE`s legacy. There will also be an evening of recognition and honour to distinguished individuals and companies.

This Golden Jubilee is a defining moment for the Nigerian energy industry, and we look forward to sharing it with all of you.

NAPE Management Appointment

Earlier in July, I announced the appointment of Mrs. Racheal Chidinma Azoriwu as the new Head of Secretariat & Administration for our association, effective August 1st, 2025. Her appointment followed a competitive recruitment process and aligned with our amended constitutional provisions. Strengthening Industry-Academia Collaboration

Through our University Assistance Program (UAP), we successfully hosted the 3rd edition of our Learning Series for Nigerian university lecturers, with the theme: “Industry Best Practices in Pre-Drill and Real-Time Pore Pressure Assessment for Enhanced Drilling Safety and Hydrocarbon Recovery”. The positive feedback from participants affirms the value of these engagements.

On Saturday, 25th July 2025, we officially inaugurated the Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) Student Chapter during a Sub-Regional Workshop themed “Bridging the Industry-Academia Gap: Milestones and Forward Plans.”

Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships

As part of our advocacy efforts, I had the honour of paying courtesy visit to the Vice Chancelor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where we discussed collaborative initiatives in human capital development. During the visit, we donated some books to support of the training of future Geoscientists.
