Dear NAPE Members, Associates, and Friends,
It is with great excitement that I write to you as I reflect on remarkable milestones in August 2025: the historic Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) and the successful hosting of the NAPE–NMGS Mini-Conference at Kwara State University, Malete.
NAPE@50 Strategic Session: Pioneering the Future of Energy in Africa
On 14th August, the industry stood still to celebrate the landmark NAPE@50 event held in Lagos. It was a truly memorable occasion, graced by distinguished speakers including the NUPRC Chief Executive, NNPCL EVP Upstream, Renaissance Board Chairman, the AA Holdings Executive Chairman, CEOs/MDs of Chevron Nigeria Ltd, TotalEnergies Nigeria, Seplat Energy PLC, and Renaissance Africa Energy Company, SLB Nigeria Country Director, NMGS President, SPE Council Chair, as well as our 1st and 2nd NAPE Presidents. The speakers delivered insightful reflections on the history of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, NAPE’s pivotal role over the past 50 years, and a forward-looking roadmap for a sustainable energy future in Nigeria and Africa, with NAPE at the forefront for the next 50 years.
In attendance were founding members, many past presidents, distinguished fellows, NAPE executives and esteemed members, young professionals, notable senior executives, industry captains, academia, and other stakeholders across the energy value chain.
I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the NAPE@50 planning committee, ably led by Babajide Fasina for their commitment in delivering this memorable celebration. I also thank our sponsors, as well as all members, associates, and dignitaries who attended the event.

NAPE–NMGS Mini-Conference:
The 12th NAPE–NMGS Mini-Conference, held from 28th–30th August at the serene campus of Kwara State University, Malete, with the theme: “Bridging the Knowledge Gap: Enhancing Geoscience Education for Sustainable Development.” The conference highlighted the enduring partnership between NAPE and NMGS, showcasing our shared commitment to advancing geoscience education and preparing the next generation of geoscientists.
As part of our impact, NAPE donated two high-end workstations to the University of Maiduguri and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. This reinforces our support for academic excellence and industry readiness.
I deeply appreciate the University Assistance Program Chairman (UAPC) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Mini-Conference led by Dr. Jimoh Ajadi for their commitment in planning a successful event. My thanks also go to all delegates – professionals, lecturers, and students, for their active participation.
