FELLOWSHIP AWARD

NOMINATION GUIDELINES & FORM FOR NAPE FELLOWSHIP

The NAPE Fellowship is a distinguished honour given in recognition of professionalism and service to the Association. The Award honours NAPE Active members who have distinguished themselves by their long-term service to the professional practice involving the application of geoscience and related disciplines in the exploration and exploitation of petroleum and related mineral resources and to the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE).

Fellows are expected to continue their active membership and exemplary service to the Association after their award, including the payment of membership dues (until such person becomes an Emeritus member) and participation in NAPE events.


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:


An Active Member duly sponsored by a minimum of five (5) Active members (at least two (2) of which must be fellows) who have paid their dues up to date in the current financial year, shall be considered for Fellowship if, in view of the Executive Committee, the nominee satisfies all the following criteria:


  1. He/she has held Active membership of the Association uninterrupted for at least fifteen (15) years. Consistent payment of annual dues for a sustained minimum period of 10 years from the year of application shall be required.

  2. He/she has actively participated in NAPE activities at central and, or chapter levels or participated in leadership of the Association at regional chapter or central levels in the last ten (10) years. Reference Letters from Regional Chapter or Central Executive Committee leadership must confirm this.

  3. Has distinguished himself/ herself professionally by demonstrating outstanding professional performance and achievements in the teaching and practice of geoscience and related disciplines.

  4. Demonstrates a high level of integrity and ethical conduct for the profession, helping to deliver a positive change in the profession and society and promoting the highest professional standards while developing others and improving self.

Note: An Active Member who is a recipient of the Nigerian National Order of Merit Award may on due recommendation by the Executive Committee be considered for Fellowship.


RESTRICTIONS:


  • Nominees must not have been disciplined under Section 7 or Section 12 of the NAPE Constitution.

  • Nominees must be alive at the time of selection and must be personally present to receive the award. NAPE Honours and Awards shall not be given by proxy except for posthumous awards.

  • Serving Executive officers of the Association are ineligible for consideration while in office.

  • Advisory Council members are not eligible to nominate or endorse nominated candidates for any category of NAPE Distinguished Honours and Awards while serving on the Council.

  • Advisory Council members are not eligible for consideration for NAPE Distinguished Honours and Nominated Awards while serving on the Council.

  • Members shall not sponsor more than 2 nominees for NAPE fellowship award.

SUBMITTING NOMINATION FORMS FOR NAPE FELLOWSHIP:

  • All applications for NAPE fellowship award are to be made on standard templates provided by the Distinguished HAC and shall be completed online in accordance with the instructions contained therein.

  • Attach supporting documentation such as the nominee’s curriculum vitae, in line with the criteria for the award concerned.

  • Individuals may submit a nomination form on behalf of themselves or on behalf of others. Anyone previously nominated may re-enter.

  • Applicants are to advise their sponsors to respond to the email seeking their reference within the time frame specified in the request.

  • Applications or endorsement received after May 31st, 2025 shall be deemed invalid.

  • Upon receipt, applications become the property of NAPE and will not be returned to applicants.
