The 8th Edition of the NAPE Min-Conference for Tertiary Institutions was held in collaboration with the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) and therefore the first of its kind. The conference provided oppurtunities for students to showcase their works during Technical/Oral sessions, join in field excursions and network with industry, academia and other stakeholders in the geosciences family. The event was held 11th -13th August 2016, at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The Theme for the Conference was: Strengthening Geosciences Training for Mineral Resources Development in An Emerging Economy.

Subthemes:

1. Hydrocarbon Prospectivity of Nigeria Inland Basins

2. Operations Geology: The well delivery process

3. Sedimentological Models of Paralic reservoirs

4. Health, Safety and Environment: Implications of Mineral Resources Exploration and Processing

5. Developing Oil Field Chemicals using local raw materials

A team of NAPE officials had a One-Day courtesy visit to the DVC of University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) on 14th May 2014 towards preparation for the 7th Mini-Conference. During the visit, NAPE officials also had a meeting with the LOC to know the level of preparedness and also carried out onsite assessment of the facilities.

The 7th edition of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) Mini-conference was held in the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers state from June 5th to 8th, 2014. The conference is a bi-annual event. The Theme for the conference was Enhancing Geoscience Education to meet Future Energy Demands.

The NAPE Fellows' Retreat was held April 26th to 28th 2013 at the University of Ibadan Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State. The Theme for the retreat was "Positioning NAPE for the Future. Participants spoke of the need to reposition the association for a more robust delivery of its mandate to bridge the knowledge gap between different generations of geoscientists. The association also stated its determination to address the issues hampering the teaching and practice of the geosciences. Speaking at the opening of the event, NAPE President, George Osahon fnape, said NAPE has initiated and continues to implement a number of enviable programmes for the benefit of its membership, as well as the nation's oil and gas industry. He said: "In spite of the fact that NAPE has initiated and has continued to implement a number of enviable programmes for the benefit of its membership, the oil & gas industry, the academia and government agencies , there is a need to reposition the association for a more robust delivery of its mandate of bridging the knowledge gap between different generations of geosciences as well as addressing the issues hampering the teaching and practice of the geosciences". The retreat which was facilitated by consulting firms had in attendance fellows of the body from different parts of the country.
