Thank you for your participation in the Benin Chapter September 2014 Technical/Business Meeting. Topic of the meeting was "Assesing Exploration Potential and Portfolio Rejuvenation" and the Speaker was Gideon Amaechi. The the meeting was held september 4, 2014 at NPDC Hall, 62/64 Sapele road, Benin City, Edo State, NIGERIA. The sponsor was Africa Oil & Gas Report and Halliburton.

The serene hall of the Lagoon Restaurant on Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue in Victoria Island, Lagos was the venue of the August edition of NAPE’s Monthly Technical Meeting. Presiding as Chairman of the meeting was Chief Chamberlain Oyibo,fnape, Fellow and one time president of the Association. The man primed to deliver the paper was Dr.Saka Matemilola, Chief Petroleum Engineer at First Exploration & Petroleum Development Company Limited.
Mr Oyibo drew laughter and applause from the audience in his introduction of the speaker when he said “Saka has been made famous by the MTN and Etisalat adverts, here we have our own oil and gas industry ‘Saka’”.
With the simple matters of the event like introductions, out of the way, Dr Matemilola went on to present a brilliant paper titled:  Petroleum Reserves and Resource Evaluation – Aligning the NNS with Global Standards.
Dr. Matemila in his introduction stated that” Up until 1990, the definitions and classifications and reporting formats of reserves in Nigeria were as varied as the number of oil producing companies operating in the country. The variations were causing confusion in definitions and difficulties in aggregating total reserves.  In September 1990, the then Director of Petroleum resources held a meeting with oil producing companies operating in Nigeria to discuss reserves, definitions, and reporting formats”.
His presentation dealt with aligning NNS with Global standards.

          Dr. Saka Matemilola

The Benin July 2014 Technical/Business Meeting was held July 31st, 2014 at the IDSL/NNPC Hall, IDSL Office, Oko/Airport Road, Benin City Edo State. The speaker was Mr. Kolade Adeleye, an Earth Modeller/ Stratigrapher in the Applied Reserach and Technical Services Division of Chevron Nigeria Ltd. The topic was â€œNew Oil from Old Fields: Impact of Stratigraphy and Reservoir Characterization”.

The Port Harcourt July 2014 Technical/Business Meeting was held at the Royal Banquet Hall, Hotel presidential, PH, Rivers State on Wednesday July 23, 2014. The Speker was Dr. Ekere Akpan and the topic was "Optimum Secondary Recovery Strategies for Heterogenous Reservoirs, Experience and Geoscience Perspectives"
